Nightstation is a VR train station resort, an experience, a cyberspace destination. It’s part transit hub, part shopping mall, part theme park… all geared for the next generation of virtual reality.
I’m Frank Edward Nora, and like many people, I’ve been dreaming of VR since the idea was first introduced in the 1980s. It’s been a long wait… a very long wait… but it seems like we’re finally getting there. All signs point to a full-blown, immersive VR metaverse existing by 2020 – maybe even sooner.
Though it is going to be a few years till this all takes off, I decided to jump right in. I got an Oculus Rift Development Kit, and started working on Nightstation in a 3D game editor, Unity.
Unity is not easy, and I am still a novice at it. But I am learning more all the time.
Here is my first rendition of Nightstation – just a sketch, really, very minimal, but I think it does convey some of the tone I am looking for in Nightstation:

It’s meant to be viewed on the Oculus Rift, but you can check it out even if you don’t have one. Windows only, for now.
